Respect is an important concept in lupine socity. Lower ranks respect Higher ranks, and so on.
Alpha wolves are given the first bite on all kills. Beta wolves follow just after, then head omega wolves, providing wolves, and normal ranking omega wolves. Omega wolves feed according to their established pecking order.
Pups are free to eat and drink when ever the need arrises, though they may establish a pecking order according to size and disposition. Generaly, if an adult wolf sees this pecking order in action, it is mediated and every pup gets his fair share.
This order does not only apply to feeding. It is law in everything the wolves do.
When a wolf of higher rank greets a wolf of lower rank, he mouths the nose or nape of that lower wolf. When a lower wolf greets a wolf of higher rank, it is customary for him to nuzzle the higher ranking wolf under the chin, or even dip their entire body to the ground.
